equinox frozen turkeys mr.v 11-23-15 blog
Friday, November 13th, 2015. When the last-minute call came in from the Equinox food pantry to ask for our help in unloading 400 frozen turkeys, for their annual Thanksgivng Dinner in Albany, NY, Mr. Van der Wouden, Automotive Technology Instructor, and several of his students were quick to respond. Dmytri Plaisted, Brandon Smith, Jonathan Rivera, Ramesh Karan, Tamearl Calhoun, James Moak and James Hill sprang into action! Unloading 400 frozen turkeys off a truck is no easy task, but the people at Equinox knew that if anyone could help, it would be the students of Glenmont Job Corps Center. This effort would not have been able to be accomplished without the cooperation from our Facilities Maintenance faculty, who donated work gloves to the students to protect their hands while handling the frosty turkeys.
GJCC has a reputation for providing our community with high-quality work and excellent service. Many thanks goes out to Mr. Van der Wouden and his students for hard work they did for Equinox this year!
