Glenmont JCC and Albany County Residential Health Care form New Partnership

Glenmont Job Corps Center is pleased to announce a newly formed partnership with Albany County Residential Health Care Facility. This partnership began with communication between Mary Rosak of County Executive Dan McCoy’s office and Ann Marie Morin, GJCC Business Community Liaison. Ms. Rosak was instrumental in providing contact information. A meeting between Albany County Residential Health Care Facility Director, Mr. Larry Slatkyand Ms. Morin took place to discuss the partnership possibilities and present the Memorandums of Understanding documents. Albany County Residential Health Care Facility is currently in possession of MOUs for Facility Maintenance, Security, Culinary and MAA students. GJCC is looking forward to receiving the signed MOUs back this week and then sending our students to do 6 week WBL placements there for on the job training. Mr. Slatky also offered that he, Mr. Ainsley Thomas, Director of Albany Affirmative Action, and Executive Dan McCoy’s office are willing to work with GJCC to help those students obtain Albany County jobs when there are openings.
Simultaneously, Ms. Morin was coordinating planting of flowers at the facility as community service with Arista Watts, Peer-Leadership Coordinator. Ms. Watts escorted the following students: Jordine Chung, Chelsea Petrie, David Hart, Funsho Adeshina, Albant Hines and Jenaj Stevens. Ms. Rosak arranged for Channel 6 News to be there to document the event. Student, David Hart, had the opportunity to be interviewed by the newscaster. GJCC was also featured on Executive Dan McCoy’s Facebook Page.
All involved expressed enthusiasm and satisfaction with the community service event. Student, Ms. Chelsea Petrie expressed that she was pleased to be part of the event. Mr. Slatky said “All went well and thank you!” Ms. Rosak sent Ms. Morin the following email message, “The planting looks great and the students were terrific! Thank you.” Glenmont Job Corps wants to thank Ms. Rosak for her part in forming this partnership. We would also like to thank Executive Dan McCoy for his continuous support of GJCC and Mr. Slatky for his enthusiasm in taking our stu-dents in for WBL placements. Special thanks goes out to Ms. Watts for all she does to get our students out in the community and each student that planted flowers and represented GJCC!
