NYC Job Fair 1-2106 On Tuesday, January 19th, 2016 the Glenmont and Delaware Valley Job Corps Centers’ Career Transition Services departments participated in a career fair at NYU in New York City. In attendance were students from all of the boroughs and many companies looking to hire in security guards and facilities maintenance workers. One company in particular called Global Security Elite hires security guards to work at JFK airport. Competent Nursing also attended, looking to hire 200 CNA students a day at a starting rate of $10.00 per hour or more. Current students in attendance for the day, Tarif Doyle, Jonathan Rivera,Vanessa Louis, Kiara Diaz, Kavita Bridgellal and Thashana DeBose, took this opportunity to network with prospective employers from the Tri-City area. This was a great learning experience which we hope they will benefit from as they prepare to separate from the center and enter the workforce. We are proud of these students as they begin their transition to becoming productive and employed members of their communities. The job fair was a great success and is going to become something we host every 6 months. We look forward to seeing you at the next job fair!
