GLENMONT ART CLUB OFF TO A GOOD “ST-ART”

Glenmont Job Corps Center’s new Art Club started last week. Ms. Ann Marie
Morin, a certified art teacher, is supervising the club. Ms. Morin has been busy organizing
and ordering supplies while the club’s first members have been working on various
projects. Emily Stamp is an extremely creative person who enjoys painting. She is very
helpful and is always willing to help others improve their skills. She is currently
working on developing a design concept for the large bulletin board in the Green
Mile. Yasmine Melendez has great drawing skills. She has been drawing with colored pencils and recently decorated part of her Halloween costume which showed off her creativity and skills. Dmytri Plaisted is using found objects, such as a plastic hanger, Styrofoam cups and rubber bands tobuild a “powered” car. Ms. Morin is currently offering lessons in bubble and block lettering. She is encouraging students to make names signs
for themselves or others to hang in their dorm rooms. Soon, Art Club will be making pillows and in
the future, Ms. Morin plans on offering drawing and painting lessons. All students are encouraged
to come to Art Club and show off their abilities or improve their skills. Come share your ideas
and get creative! Stop by, say ‘Hi,” and express yourself through art!
