On Friday, February 19th Glenmont Job Corps Center’s CCP 3 students, under the guidance of their instructor Ms. Sharon Vadney, began a recurring community service project with Mohawk-Hudson Human Society in Menands, NY. The students who participated were: John Arce, Cynthia Cuevas, Jalen Snow, Jamila Williams, Juliet Morales, Zaria Dawson and Gregory Wilson.

Students dressed for the weather and were engaged in the outdoor work of sorting redeemable bottles and cans to be recycled as a fundraiser for the humane society. Students were trained by a volunteer named Paulie, who explained the importance of this work. MHHS has raised $150,000.00 just from their recycling project! This work is a vital part of keeping their organization going and allowing them to continue caring for local animals.

GJCCstudent volunteers also visited with the animals in the shelter and got to spread a little love to the pets up for adoption. GJCC student Juliet Morales really enjoyed participating in the community service. Julie quoted Buddha by saying, “What we think we become, all that we are arises with our thoughts, with our thoughts we make the world.”Glenmont Job Corps Center students are always ready to give back to the community. We thank our volunteers for making our community a better place!
