On Friday January 15, 2016 Dr. Eric Luper, a chiropractor and spoke with the Glenmont Author visits Glenmont Reading 1 ClassReading 1 class about the books he has written and about the process of taking an idea and turning it into a book.
Dr. Eric Luper is an award-winning author of various books for young readers from kids to young adults. He has been published with Harper Collins, Macmillan and others, Cartoon Network, and Scholastic. His first young adult novel, Big Slick, came out in 2007, followed closely by Bug Boy in 2009, and then 2010’s Seth Baumgartner’s Love Manifesto. His fourth novel, and his first one created for younger readers, Jeremy Bender vs. the Cupcake Cadets, then followed in 2011. After a short break, he wrote the following additional books: Miss Simian’s IroncladRules for School (2014), The Chocolate Lab (2015), The Amazing World of Gumball (2015), The Key Hunters (2016), Scooby-Doo Mad Libs (2016), and Star Trek Mad Libs (2016).
The students were especially interested in the books Dr. Luper wrote which they had seen on television, such as Scooby-Doo and The Amazing World of Gumball. It also caught their attention when Dr. Luper told them that one of his books is currently in the process of being scripted for a movie and one of the actors that may play a role is Ashton Kutcher. Even more interesting was learning how much money an author can earn. Overall, Dr. Luper’s visit was a very positive experience and we are thankful that he was able to visit and share his experience with us.
