Two Gerald R. Ford Job Corps Center students packed their belongings and moved across the country today after completing the program and accepting job positions with Xanterra South Rim L.L.C., a travel resort located in the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona!
The Grand Canyon is one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World. It is a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in the state of Arizona where the nearest city, Flagstaff, is located over 90 minutes away. The South Rim is the most accessible part of the park and is open all year, averaging 7000 feet above sea level.
Xanterra South Rim L.L.C. operates the hotels (907 rooms), restaurants (3 sit-down and 3 cafeterias); and retail shops (8) inside the national park and employs roughly 2000 people who live and work on the resort.
Gerald R. Ford Job Corps Center Security graduate Jose Taylor will be working in Housekeeping/Maintenance while Culinary Arts graduate Max Bradley will be employed as a Cook Helper. Both students first learned about the opportunity after Michael Lumenti, a Staffing Manager from Xanterra South Rim, visited the Gerald R. Ford Job Corps Center back in June to share employment opportunity.
Included in their entry-level employment package is room and board at the resort and many opportunities to advance within the company.
Both students are excited to become a part of the Xanterra staff community and are looking forward to their new employment opportunity!
