On Friday, August 20th, Gerald R. Ford Job Corps students participated in a AT&T Job Shadow. Students toured three different AT&T locations in the greater Grand Rapids area, seeing first hand how cell phones are manufactured, marketed, and distributed. Throughout the job shadow, students were given employability advice from AT&T staff while also receiving an inside look at AT&T company operations. The tour concluded with lunch and a special presentation from guest speaker, State Representative Roy Schmidt. As a departing gift, each student received a copy of AT&T’s CEO/President, Ralph de la Vega’s book “Obstacles Welcome: Turn Adversity into Advantage in Business and Life (Thomas Nelson, 2009).”
