The Gerald R. Ford Job Corps Center Culinary Arts students very generously gave their time and energy on Thanksgiving Day by volunteering to help feed the homeless. The students joined with 700 other volunteers from around the area to help local homeless shelter Mel Trotter Ministries prepare, clean-up, and serve Thanksgiving dinner at the Devos Place in downtown Grand Rapids to more than 3000 local people that were without a place to go for the Thanksgiving holiday.
“This was an opportunity for our students to give back” stated Culinary Arts Instructor Don Ram who accompanied the students to the Thanksgiving Day event. “The students worked hard, enjoyed themselves, and showed the highest level of professionalism.”
Due to the hard work and dedication of volunteers like the Gerald R. Ford Job Corps Center Culinary Arts students, Mel Trotter Ministries has never had to turn a single person away for Thanksgiving Day dinner.
