David came to the Gary Job Corps Center in  August 2009 from Houston, Texas.  He said that “Iwas doing nothing with my life, living witrh my grandmother, I was in college and dropped out”.  My grandmother was looking at TV and saw the commerical about the opportunities that were available at Job Corps.  David came on tour and said that it felt like the right place to be.  My family was not happy with me, dropping our of high school and college, not doing anything with my life.  After coming to the Gary Job Corps Center I felt redeemed, I got my GED and High School Diploma from the A Edward Gary High School.  My parents are now proud of what I am doing.  I completed the Human Services Trade and the Advanced Residential Advisor Course.  He graduated in August 2010, has been accepted to attend Nassau Community College in Long Island, New York where his major will be in Social Work.  David’s reflection “Thanks Gary for giving me focus on what I want do do with my life”.
