Committed Community Business Partner Nkwanda Jah shared a letter with the editor explaining how the Job Corps Program Works in Gainesville. Below is a copy of the editorial:

The Job Corps works

One of the most important keys to Gainesville’s economic recovery is the Job Corps Center.

I have worked with Job Corps for more than 20 years. They have built a stage for the annual Fifth Avenue Arts Festival, put up exhibits to showcase their programs at the festival and performed on the stage. The students have also worked with Gainesville police to provide security at our festival.

These students have been very much involved in becoming educators of HIV/AIDS prevention through programs and activities at the Job Corp Center and in the community. Recently students used their artistic skills to share education at Reichert House (an after-school program for middle and high school boys) and with the University of Florida’s Black History program.

The Job Corps works in Gainesville.
