Students at the Gainesville Job Corps Center know how to protect themselves against HIV/AIDS. February 7th is nationally recognized as Black Aids Awareness Day. Students held an educational assembly about the dangers of unprotected sex. Student Kenneth White rapped about the dangers of unprotected sex while Student Calvin Washington read a poem he wrote entitled “It Only Takes One Time.”
The Center partnered with Black Aids Services Education, Inc (B.A.S.E.) to host the days’ event. A community member, currently living with AIDS, spoke candidly with students about the virus and urged them to stay protected.
Students walked away from the assembly with a wealth of information and a commitment to live HIV/AIDS free by making wise choices.
