Gainesville Job Corps Center’s scholarship recipient, Zana Green, was elated when she received the news that she’d been chosen above all the other applicants at the Center to receive Fluor’s $5,000 Job Corps Scholarship. “I’ve applied for scholarships before but never won any so this is a big boost to my self- esteem,” she stated.

While at Job Corps, this energetic young woman served as Student Government Secretary, Acting President, and was also the Center’s official announcer. She completed the Business and Finance Career Technical Trade and was certified in OPAC (Office Proficiency Assessment and Certification).

Zana is currently attending Hillsborough Community College but will soon be transferring to the University of South Florida to pursue a degree in Elementary Education which she plans to use to become a teacher. Zana thanked Fluor and her Career Transition Counselor, Pamela Easterling, for recognizing her potential and encour- aging her to make a better life for herself and her daughter.
