One Gainesville Job Corps Center graduate doesn’t have to worry about catching a ride to work– he can ride in style in the car that was donated and repaired just for him at the Gainesville Job Corps Center.
GJCC graduate Vince Clements was given a 1992 Chrysler LeBaron during a student assembly held on Thursday, June 23rd. When the news came that Clements would be joining the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades and that he had a fulltime job awaiting him in Tampa, FL—GJCC instructors got together to make sure he had everything he needed to be successful. Advanced Solar Instructor Erick Green donated the car.
“When my son died a few years back, me and my wife didn’t want to sale his car,” Mr. Green said, “We were looking for an opportunity to give it away. Clements did the right things at Job Corps and is creating a successful future for himself. So, it felt right that he should get the car. ”
Vince drove his new car to Tampa to begin work. CTT Manager, Byers Hickmon, said that this is a dream come true for a young man who grew up without a father and never thought he could ever make it on his own.
