GJCC Advanced Solar Graduate, Gabrielle Barber, made news in Gainesville. Local newspaper, The Guardian, published an article about Ms. Barber participating in the community’s Environmental Youth Summit. Below is an excerpt from the article:
The keynote speaker, Gabrielle Barber, a recent graduate of the solar program at the Gainesville Job Corps Center, gave an overview of the history and benefits of solar energy.
She said the United States is taking the energy shortcut by utilizing materials like coal, when solar energy is a better choice for the environment. Barber then listed the following pillars of conservation, which are reduce, reuse, recycle and reject.
“We need to think about ways to clean this environment,” Barber said. “We have tremendous opportunity to affect quality of life. Make a promise, volunteer, sign up and show up.”
