Center Director Speaks with the National Job Corps Director

Center Director Sam Kolapo shook hands with the National Job Corps Director, Edna Primrose, on February 8, 2012, at the National Job Corps Policy Forum. Primrose was a keynote speaker at the annual forum held in Washington, DC, February 5th-8th.

Primrose addressed a room filled with Job Corps hopefuls, Center Directors, BCLs and other dignitaries. Primrose was heard numerous times saying “Job Corps Rocks” as she commented on the success of the Job Corps Program in 2011. One point highlighted by Primrose was the fact that 85% of Job Corps graduates find and keep jobs, continue their education or enlist in the military. Primrose also shared that of the  students who gain employment,  the starting wage is $9.40, which is about 2 dollars above Florida’s minimum wage.

Mr. Kolapo had an opportunity to personally commend the National Director for her commitment to the Job Corps Program and she, in turn,  thanked him for making a difference in the lives of students daily.
