We are so proud to highlight student Gloria Taylor, who is enrolled in our Human Service Worker (HSW)/Residential Assistant Advanced Training Program. Gloria is currently participating in Work-Based Learning (WBL) in the dorms to gain Residential Advisor experience and has received superior ratings from our dorm staff. She is currently employed at Red Lobster as a hostess and waitress for leisure time employment. Gloria has plans to attend AmeriCorps in Maryland once she completes the HSW program and would like to attend college to major in Social Work. Gloria was born and raised in Chicago, IL and one of twelve children in her family. She was in five foster homes and is the first in her family to graduate from Hononegah High School in Rockton, IL. After graduation, she applied to the Joliet Job Corps in Chicago and was accepted into the Culinary Arts Program. After she received her Culinary Art Certificate, she applied for the Advanced Training for Human Service Worker at the Gadsden Job Corps Center. Gloria is a very motivated young woman and aspires to empathically help those around her. She said that the key to her success has been prayer and to continue to believe that she will be successful in life because of her faith. We are very proud of Gloria’s continued dedication and success as a student leader and mentor here at Gadsden Job Corps.
