Gadsden Students Earn Fork Lift Certification

8.11.16 This week the Gadsden Job Corps had three Gadsden Job Corps Students to complete their certification in Forklift Operation from Darden Rehabilitation Foundation. Mr. Derick Coburn, Operations Manager, is the Instructor of the Forklift Training and he had the opportunity to train three of our students: Howard Floyd II, Vernell Jackson and Khalil Hood. The Forklift Training consisted of a combination of formal instruction (lecture, discussion, interactive computer learning, video tape, written material); practical training (demonstrations performed by the trainer and practical exercises performed by the trainee) and an evaluation of the operator’s performance in the workplace. The forklift training program is based on the general principles of safe truck operation, types of vehicle(s) being used in the workplace, hazards of the workplace created by the use of the vehicle(s), and general safety requirements of the OSHA standard. We are very excited about this new partnership with Darden Rehab and how it will benefit our students.
