8.30.16 The Gadsden Job Corps Student Government Association (SGA) and Grad-90 Student Council, hosted a Blood Drive for Life South and Health Fair for the Alabama Department of Health on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM. There were a number of students and staff who donated blood and expressed extreme gratitude for the chance to make a difference and save lives. The Center collected 60 pints of blood and gave out countless brochures and materials to reduce the spread of STD’s.
In addition, to better educate our students on the importance of safe sex, mental health in the workplace and nutrition, Mr. Warren Dates and his team invited local non-profit organizations such as Second Chance, Quality of Life Health Services, C.E.D. Mental Health and Alabama Testing Service to give lectures and demonstrations on how to check for and prevent STD’s and H.I.V.
We appreciate Mr. David Barrett and Ms. Ceandra James for organizing this event and a special thanks to our CTT Department and Carpentry students and Ms. Jennifer James, for setting up for the event.
