Gadsden Holds Inspirational Y2Y Event

On May 19, 2016 our Y2Y Committee members wanted to send the essential message of how damaging and hurtful violence and bullying can be. The committee members used their talent and what amazing talent they displayed with skits and poetry they all wrote themselves with the exception of Phenomenal Woman by Mya Angelou. The show was closed out by reminding students at times they have to “Encourage Yourself.” There are 52% of young people bullied online, 27% of young people are bullied in school, 22% of young people witness a shooting each year and 6 to 7 young people are killed by violence each day. The Gadsden Job Corp Y2Y Committee is wanting this vicious cycle of violence to stop. A special thanks goes to Ms. Akiba Canady for organizing and planning this very special event. Ms. Akiba Canady wants to thank Mr. Michael McDermott and Mrs. Ayana Williams for their support and help with a successful program.
