6.8.16 Ms. Lynn Curry, Executive Director and Mr. Derek Coburn, Operation Manager of Darden Rehabilitation Foundation were invited to take a tour of the Gadsden Job Corps Center. Student Ambassadors, LeAndra Cruzado, Kenneth Russell, Jenny Wright and Diego Francisco gave a tour of the Job Corps campus to Ms. Curry and Mr. Coburn from a student’s perspective. Each Ambassador stood before our guests and shared their name, where they were from, what trade they were in and what they wanted to accomplish while they are in the Job Corps Program. These Student Ambassadors showed our guests the dorm facilities and explained how the rooms were set up and how they are accountable for these rooms. Our guests visited each of the Career Technical Training trades and the Academic Department. After the tour, Ms. Curry and Mr. Coburn were invited to the CPP Luncheon with the new CPP students and Staff in the Hotel and Lodging classroom. The CPP Luncheon is hosted by the Hotel and Lodging students who served our guests and the Culinary Arts students prepared a very delicious meal. Ms. Curry told Harold Carpenter, the BCL Manager that she has been in the educational field for over 25 years but was so impressed with the Gadsden Job Corps students, staff, and the campus.

Thank you so much for your hospitality today. We enjoyed the tour, meeting your staff and students, and the food was delicious. Job Corp is a great program and beneficial to students. I was most impressed with the programs Job Corp offers. I’m sure the skills your students learn lead to meaningful employment.

The ambassadors did a wonderful job of explaining the program and showing us around the campus. We look forward to working with Job Corp and hope we can help with the forklift training needs.
