“CIC Spotlight” Capeside Fish Market Tours Culinary Arts Program
Gadsden Job Corps Center conducted our first Center Industry Council (CIC) Trade Spotlight on Monday, October 12, 2015. Mr. Alan Duncan, Chief Chef of Capeside Fish Company, was on center to tour the Culinary Arts trade. During the tour, the Culinary Arts students conducted a demonstration displaying the hands-on training they receive. Mr. Duncan reviewed culinary equipment and their Training Achievement Record (TAR). He also provided informative feedback by completing a trade visit survey.
Our goal for the CIC Trade Spotlight is to create a more active Center Industry Council and use their knowledge to enhance our students’ skillset. A trade will be selected each month for the spotlight and a CIC member will be invited to come tour the trade. During the tour, the CIC member will examine the trade’s training curricula and techniques to ensure students are learning industry-appropriate skills. The CIC member will also make recommendations for types of equipment needed for training and help identify potential sites for work-based learning.
