Voting Registration Held at Flint Genesee Job Corps

Voting Registration Held at Flint Genesee Job Corps

To ensure our students were civically aware and engaged, on October 18th, Mr. Percy Glover, Co-Executive Director of the Community Engagement for the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, met at Flint Genesee Job Corps Centr to share information to students eighteen and older about voting history, the voting process, and also information about the candidates. Approximately 25 students participated and were well engaged, while given t-shirts, wrist bands, and other giveaways throughout the presentation in the meeting held in the centers Recreation Building.

The students were very impressed and learned a great deal. They particularly liked the “It’s About Me” t-shirts given to them.   Mr. Glover was just as impressed with our students’ mannerism and eagerness to learn.  He mentioned “First, I really want to say thank you for this opportunity to engage with our young people.  It’s important to get our youth civically engaged and I am more than grateful to do so.”  We are very proud of each student who took the steps to learn more about the importance of voting, its history, and process!
