Various students were recognized at the most Community Relations Council (CRC) Meeting held on Center on September 15th, which approx. 75 guest attended, to include Constituent Services Representative for Congressman Kildee -Richard Malone, Rosemary Rodrigues and Yvette Harris – from the State of Michigan, Jeffery Lemieux- Department of Human Resources, Bruce Ross – Parks and Recreation, Karen Zeilenger, from the Alutiiq Coorperate Office, and many others. Eight students, who were most recently hired, were recognized by Mr. Ross ,Chief of Field Operations for the Michigan Parks and Recreation Division, for doing a great job representing the Flint/Genesee Job Corps Center and for opening doors for other students to be hired. Students from the Painting Trade Class were recognized by Art Wenzlaff, Director of School and Community Relations for the International Academy of Flint, for recycled paint murals on what was once graffitti filled areas for the annual CRIM Race and Back to Bricks events which draws thousands of guest to the downtown area. Proceeds for the CRIM Race go towards Children With Obesity programs. Student and staff volunteers from the center also filled 13,500 bags of literature for the race which had 16.000 registrants. Students from the Hospitality, Retail, and Security classes and SGA who assisted with greeting, traffic control, dinning, and updates were also recognized and appreciated from guest. The students were a highlight of the CRC Meeting and will continue to be recognized in upcoming meetings!
