Students of Flint/Genesee Paint Community Mural

Flint/Genesee Job Corps Centers painting trade students were in the Flint Journal Newspaper on August 17th for volunteering to paint a mural for the community’s high profile event “Back to the Bricks”, where hundreds of classic cars cruze for miles for thousands of observers.   Paint used for the eye-catching mural was donated by Chains Painting, as well as recycled paint mixed by our trainees.

Below is the article as stated:

A classic Chevrolet Camaro passes by Flint Genesee Job Corps students Quame Jones (right) and DeAnna White, both of Detroit, as they paint a Back to the Bricks mural along Saginaw Street in Flint on Wednesday near 12th Street that will greet cruisers as they head into downtown Flint as part of their pre-apprenticeship painting program. The group plans on painting another mural along the 150-foot long wall for the Crim Race as well as a way to clean up the neighborhood.

Staff and students of the Flint/Genesee Job Corps center are proud of our painting students!  Next month they will add on “runners” to the mural in recognition of the CRIM Race, which thousands of runners from various areas of the world participate, with proceeds going towards obesed children programs.
