As NBC News Reporter, Mike Horne, was viewing the preparation of the upcoming CRIM Race, he noticed the painting students, along wither their instructor Mr. Heddy painting a mural of a racer. He was so enthused about the mural that he immediately began a interview on site. Students explained that the paint used was recycled and that painting of the mural (as well as another for a previous event) was to heighten community pride. That evening students were on the NBC evening news!
This year the CRIM Race, which raises monies for various causes to include obesity in children attracted over 30,000 guest to the area. The area in which the mural was painted was once graffiti ridden is now a area which those viewers will remember the CRIM with pride.
