Flint Genesee Job Corps students and staff recognized International Peace Day with a celebration and unity march through downtown Flint during lunch hour. Over 300 walkers with non-violent signs and posters beginning at the University of Michigan, passed Farmers Market to the downtown area, ending at the Main Public Library. Although the very warm day was in the high 80’s, walkers purged through to let the community know that young people are concerned about the rising rate of violence and to promote peace, working along with the Youth 2 Youth (Y2Y) Committee. University of Michigan students spoke at the library’s reception to acknowledge Job Corps students postitive actions and encouraged them to remain focused.
