Two student cadets enrolled in the Homeland Security trade at Flint Genesee Job Corps undertook and successfully completed the mandatory National Rifle Association (NRA) training needed to qualify for the State of Michigan Concealed Pistol License! This training consist of home protection, firearms safety, concealed carry laws, shooting techniques and accuracy, and a written exam.
This primary credential improves the earnable wage in the security industry, with average hourly rates for armed guards being $16-$18.00 an hour across the state. The young men had not fired a firearm prior to that day, but thanks to the mock firearms and shooting simulator in the Homeland Security trade training offered at Flint Genesee Job Corps, both handled the firearms confidently and safely! A job well done!
