Mario M. Bennet entered the Finch-Henry Job Corps Center on November 17, 2009 to obtain his trade in Retail Sales and to obtain his High School diploma. Medical concerns prevented him from completing the 12th grade. He was raised by his mother in Iowa City, Iowa and he later moved to Southaven, MS with a family member and entered the Finch-Henry Job Corps Center. He participated in many leadership roles to include recreational aide, dorm president, Center Ambassador, and President of the Student Government Association. After completing Retail Sales, Mr. Bennett entered and completed Office Assistant. He graduated from the program on March 25, 2011 and was placed on a job at Four Oaks Family & Children Center in Cedar Rapids, IA. Iowa City, Iowa was Mr. Bennett’s hometown before moving to Mississippi. He had a desire to return to Mississippi and obtained a job with the Finch-Henry Job Corps Center as a Residential Advisor in 2012. He was promoted to Leadership Specialist. He received the Corporate Warrior Award for his outstanding work at the center. In 2016 he was promoted to Supervisor of Residential Living. In 2018, Mr. Bennett decided to pursue his childhood dream of working in law enforcement and resigned from the center to enter the Shelby County Training Facility and became a deputy correctional office. After six months, he was promoted to Field Training Officer. In 2020, Mr. Bennett completed the Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training Courses and became a Patrol Officer and is now serving the citizens of City of Memphis, TN.
