LaRenzo Rayborn was no stranger to hard work, prior to coming to the Finch-Henry Job Corp Center he had attended the Mississippi Job Corp, where he received his GED and trade (Technology Skills). With new career desires in mind, LaRenzo enrolled at Finch-Henry Job Corps on September 12th 2017, he planned on becoming a welder and a painter. After going through the necessary steps in CPP, LaRenzo decided his first choice would be to job shadow in welding. After two days of shadowing, he decide that welding wasn’t for him. He met with Mr. Tabor, the painting instructor and, in a couple days he had chosen painting as his trade. According to Mr. Tabor, LaRenzo came in eager to learn, he displayed great energy and determination, and was always respectful from day one and throughout. He breezed through the program and as his completion date drew near it was then that LaRenzo had a change of heart in career choice. He was an excellent painter and student but realized that the opportunities for painters in Hattiesburg, Mississippi were few. Upon completing his painting trade as an honor student on March 3 of 2018, saddled with the desire and responsibility to improve his family’s quality of life LaRenzo pursued a career in truck driving. Currently LaRenzo is living in Kentucky, he’s driving an 18-wheeler fulltime and is using the skills he learned at the Finch-Henry Job Corps Center to run a painting business part-time. Congratulations to LaRenzo.
