Female students and staff from the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center and its Kansas City Alternate Training Location celebrated Women’s Day on May 30th. Entitled “Beauty, Strength, and Determination”, various speakers and poets provided words of wisdom and related their personal experiences to encourage the students. Speakers included Ruth Terrell from the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center and Jenny Holcomb with Mary Kay Cosmetics. Poets that performed included Sheri “Purpose” Hall, Estella Tucker, LaSonya “Lady Po’wet” Taylor, and Oprah “Hebrew Princess” Brown. The day was finished with a self defense presentation by Brian Bush with the Ray County Sheriff’s Office.
