Staff and students from the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center and the Alternation Training Location in Kansas City, Mo took time on a recent Saturday morning, while dodging rain drops, to participate in a walk supporting a very worthwhile cause. Students Davon Walker, Brandon Walker, Jaquaella Norfleet, Bria McCain and Mykita Shaw all came out to walk and support the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association. Staff members who participated include Catrice McNeely, Chris Collins, Alan Respalie and Whitney Bachman. Participants met at Theis Park in Kansas City, Mo for the beginning of the walk where students met the Kansas City Chief’s football team mascot KC Wolf, the Kansas City Royal’s baseball mascot Slugger, Star Wars characters and members of the local Channel 5 news team. Healthy snacks and beverages were provided for everyone prior to the event as well. The course included walking the beautiful and famous Country Club Plaza, and an area near the University of Missouri Kansas City and back around to the park. All students and staff completed the walk in, thankfully, sunny weather. Pictured far right, staff member Catrice McNeely organized the event and designed the T-Shirts for ESJCC participants.
