Friday and Saturday June 8th and 9th students and staff from the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Fifty students and staff participated in the event held at Kearney High School’s football field and track. Culinary Arts students prepared food for all participants and served it throughout the afternoon and evening on Friday. The Relay for Life was not just limited to individuals walking around the track. There were many booths and activities for people to take part in while not working. One of the booths set up was Locks of Love, which provides wigs for cancer patients that have lost their hair in treatment. A Job Corps student generously gave her hair Friday evening. Organizers for the Relay for Life were very appreciative of all the things that our students were doing to help out. The event ended Saturday morning after walking for the night into the early hours.
