Students from the Facilities Maintenance Trade at the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center are participating in Work Based Learning at the Metropolitan Energy Center. Having been in operation for over 30 years, Metropolitan Energy has recently received a $300,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency for Environmental Remediation Training. Under the instruction of Gay Lee Foyt and Greg Gladish, students have participated in; preparing a rain garden, demolishing and rebuilding a garage, and weatherizing and calking of the administrative offices. Metropolitan Energy Center purchased three homes near their original offices on Paseo Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri. Two of the homes are used as administrative offices and housing for staff. The third house is being used as a training site where students work on both inside and outside projects.
