Former Edison Student Agrees to speak at Upcoming Graduation Ceremony

Edison Job Corps is proud of its many graduates over the years and this upcoming Friday will welcome back one of its own, Emmanuel Moore, to give the commencement address.

Emmanuel Lewis Moore (or Manny) is a devoted public servant, passionate educator, and lifelong pursuer of knowledge.  Manny’s passion for inspiring and effecting change drives his personal and professional pursuit to ensure prosperity, enlightenment, and transformation at the local, national, and global level.  Manny has spent the entirety of his professional career directly supporting officials at the highest levels of the United States Government while simultaneously climbing the ranks himself.

Manny’s professional journey began at the Edison Job Corps Academy in August 2004.  During his 10 months at Edison, Manny completed the Law Enforcement Trade and earned his high school diploma.  Manny was actively involved with student leadership, being elected to Student Government twice – once as it’s Secretary and again as Student Government Associate President.  Manny also served on dorm leadership and worked as a recreation aide.  In June of 2005, Manny transferred to the Potomac Job Corps Center in Washington, D.C. to join the Transportation Communication Union (TCU) advance training program.  After completing the TCU program, Manny was hired into his first federal government position with the United States Department of Agriculture, Forest Service.

In his first professional role, Manny served as assistant to the Assistant Director for the Office of Civil Rights.  Manny enjoyed immediate success in his role and after one year with the Forest Service, joined the Central Intelligence Agency.  During his time with the CIA, Manny would be responsible for mission critical functions and assignments of national and global security and intelligence significance.  Manny travelled internationally, supporting national security efforts with embassy and military personnel in Afghanistan in 2010.  Manny was also briefly stationed in Bogota, Colombia to support international efforts in the region.

Following his tenure with the CIA, Manny joined the Administrative Office of the United States Courts, the organization tasks with supporting the federal court system and the administration of justice.  Since 2014, Manny has played a vital role in supporting Justices, policy makers, federal judges, judicial officials, and executive leaders within the federal government.  Manny spent nine years as an executive assistant to Associate Directors within the Administrative Office, studying the ways of the courts, how policy is made and effected, and how to enhance public engagement and trust for the federal courts.  As a result of his success at the Administrative Office, in January 2022, Manny was asked to serve a six-month appointment at the Supreme Court of the United States as executive assistant to the Counselor to the Chief Justice.  During his brief tenure at the Supreme Court, many supported judicial, academic, and policy making initiatives of national importance.  Manny was also a part of history, as he was both fortunate and honored to have had the opportunity to support the investiture of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first black women to be appointed as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court.  Since his return to his agency, Manny has been appointed to the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, Office of Legislative Affairs to manage the office’s support staff.

Manny is the father of a 15-year-old son who is equally passionate about improving society.  Manny is also working on his undergraduate degree in English at Montgomery College and is an aspiring attorney and teacher of the law.  In his personal time, Manny tutors elementary and middle school students in English and Reading and mentors colleagues.
