Edison Job Corps Academy celebrated “Make a Difference Day” by volunteering at two different organizations for the second year in the row to support the needs of their local community. On Friday, October 21, 2011 students helped packing hygiene products at the “Feed the Children”, an international, nonprofit relief organization that delivers food, medicine, clothing and other neces-sities to individuals, children and families who lack these essentials due to famine, war, poverty, or natural disaster. On October 22, students also assisted Divine Nine with coat drive at the Somerset K- Mart, NJ. Divine Nine is an organization comprised of nine historically Black Greek letter organi-zations (BGLOs) that make up the National Pan-Hellenic Council. Collectively, these organizations are referred to as “The Divine Nine.” Each of these fraternities and sororities is rich in history – ties to one or more of these organizations may be found in many college-educated Black families in the United States.
