In a collaborative effort with the Union County Fiscal Court and the annual Ohio River Sweep, ORSANCO (www.orsanco.org) a river park took shape outside Sturgis, KY on the banks of the Ohio River at Caseyville, KY. After more than two years of planning and much preparation 50 students from the Earle C. Clements Job Corps center took the lead in clean-up and landscaping of an area that was a river city metropolis more than 100 years ago. The students gained valuable insight into the importance of creating recreation areas and keeping them clean.
