On Wednesday, February 7,2011 the Detroit Job Corps Center were highlighted for the special partnership they have with the Labor’s International Union of North America (LIUNA) Training Center by the Secretary of Labor, Ms. Hilda L. Solis.

Through the LIUNA partnership with Detroit Job Corps Center and the United States Department of Labor (DOL);  the training center has developed a state of the art green jobs module for DJCC Advance Training students. This training focuses on energy efficiency and hazardous waste remediation.

As trainees demonstrated skills they learned, Solis praised LIUNA’s top-notch training facility and courses, as well as its partnership with Detroit Job Corps Center on green construction. She also noted that high- quality technical training such as LIUNA’s -coupled with innovation and government investments to fix our nation’s infrastructure and clean energy needs- will be a large driver of the economic recovery.
