Phillip Black is the newly elected president of the Detroit Job Corps Center’s (DJCC) Student Government Association (SGA). Phillip has been an exemplary student and leader at the DJCC since his arrival. He has a 3.8 grade point average at Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD). It is because of his superior work with SGA, DJCC, and WCCCD that Philip has been accepted as a Real Life 101 Award recipient.
Real Life 101, a 501(c) (3) organization, provides college scholarships for selected inner city, African American males who are graduating from high school. Each scholarship student receives the following:
The opportunity to obtain a degree of his choice (in up to 5 years)
An annual scholarship of $2,000, renewable up to five years
A laptop computer equipped with software
A computer backpack
A certified Real Life Mentor for up to 5 years while in the Real Life program.
