On July 12, 2011 the Detroit Job Corps Center (DJCC) trainees and staff participated in Detroit’s “Senior Friendship Day”, held at Chene Park. Some of the organizations who  participated were: Metro Detroit Task Force, Department of Health and Human Service, Michigan Community Health, Green Environment and Economy and Detroit Area Agency on Aging. In an effort to educate and train the community, especially seniors, trainees and staff distributed educational materials about Emergency Heat Preparedness and helped with the packing and distribution of lunches that were served  at the event.
