The Detroit Job Corps Center participated in the Mayor of Detroit’s Community Beautification ” Adopt a Block ” Project on Saturday, August 14,2010. Six trainees from the Facility Maintenance Trade and the Business and Community Liaison joined forces with the Morning Side Community Association, East Side Neighborhood Association, The Detroit Police and Fire Department, Water Front Association, Returning Citizen and the City’s General Services Department to restore streets of unsafe vacant and abandoned houses into safe, clean areas.
The project entailed clearing debris, cutting grass and trimming bushes for 15 abandoned and vacant houses in the Morning Side neighborhood. The Morning Side Community Association was very happy for the support and help they received.
