Detroit Job Corps Center held its 2015 summer commencement ceremony on Friday, August 14, 2015. This year’s theme was: “Soaring to Success”. The Key note speaker was Mr. Shaka Senghor, writer, mentor and motivational speaker. Detroit Job Corps Center had 80 students who graduated from the following Career Technical Trades: Office Administration (36 graduates) Network Cable (9 graduates) Certified Nursing Assistant (7 graduates) Facility Maintenance (15 graduates) Homeland Security (11 graduates) Advance Training-Weatherization (2 graduates). Detroit Job Corps Center ranks #3 among 126 Job Corps programs nationally for job placement. Some of the guests in attendance were: Congressman John Conyers; Representatives from the following elected officials offices: U.S. Senator Gary Peters (Mr. Don DeFoe), Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence (Ms. Joanne Barnes), City Council member Scott Benson; City Council member Cushingberry (Ms. Cleo Wiley), U.S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship (Ms. P. Riley), City of Detroit Police Department, community partners and many more.
