This summer, prior to the community of Manilla’s 125 year celebration, the students from Denison Job Corps showed their expertise and helped them prepare. Learning and an opportunity to give back to our communities gave the students a chance to be appreciated for their skills. A thank you note was received from Manilla’s Mayor Leonard Kaufman who wrote, “The City of Manilla would like to thank you for the professional job you all did at the Veterans Band Shell Park in Manilla. The Caboose was painted and restored back to excellent condition. The park benches were also exquisitely constructed. We have received multiple compliments on your work. You should be proud of the work you have done.” News paper coverage as the project developed was published in both the Denison Bulletin and the Manilla Press. Students, with papers in hand, proudly shared this coverage with family and friends.
