In the fall of 2015, Youth 2 Youth (Y2Y) was introduced to the Job Corps Centers. Students on center got involved, staff got involved, and pledges were signed to be violence free. One of our Carpentry Students, with the help of staff, produced at Y2Y video, that we had sent to other centers, our corporate office and our Regional Program Manager. This video can be viewed at

Delaware Valley Job Corps Center was honored to be invited to Washington, DC with two Y2Y student ambassadors and one staff along with other centers from across the country who participated. The program was facilitated by Lenita Jacobs-Simmons, National Director of Job Corps and Eric Seleznow, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Employment and Training Administration, along with National Office Job Corps staff. A few topics of discussion were
Understanding and Dealing with Peer-to-Peer Aggression in Youth, Standards of Conduct, Y2Y Best Practices, Ingredients to Winning: Believe in yourself; work hard in and out of season; don’t be afraid to take (calculated) risk; surround yourself with the right people; be patient, always be thinking about what do we respect…what do we want to be respected for…what do we respect about ourselves?
Our students and staff enjoyed the trip to Washington, DC and have shared a lot of information back on center.
