More than 1,ooo people tasted then voted the Delaware Valley Job Corps Center’s (DVJCC) Culinary Program as the winner of the eighth annual Chili Cook-off Contest held at the Harvest Festival at Bethel Woods on Sun. 10/10/10. This was a very prestigious award for the DVJCC students as they had stiff competition from local culinary programs such as the Sullivan County BOCES, Frost Valley YMCA, SUNY Sullivan and Sullivan County SPCA (teaming up with Dutch’s Tavern and Restaurant in Rock Hill, NY).

This was DVJCC’s second attempt at capturing the chili crown in as many years and this time around paid off! While many tasters approached the table asking for the recipe, DVJCC Culinary Instructor Alice Guss divulged, “There is a secret ingredient so the recipe remains in the DVJCC Culinary Vault!” When the winner was announced, Alice and her students were thrilled. More than $2,000 was raised and it will be split amon the organizations that participated. It was a fun day for all!
