The Carpentry students assisted the National Park Service with some maintenance repairs that were needed on the Roebling Bridge. The students are repairing the metal grates on the guard rail systems. The Roebling Bridge is the oldest existing wire suspension bridge in the United States. It runs 535 feet over the Delaware River from Minisink Ford, NY to Lackawaxen, PA. This bridge opened in 1849 as a aqueduct connecting two parts of the Delaware and Hudson Canal, it has since been converted to carry automotive traffic and pedestrians. The students enjoyed working on the historic bridge.
