Delaware Valley Job Corps Carpentry trade students under the direction of instructor Tom Baudendistel, repainted and did light carpentry work at the local train station as part of the “Callicoon Railroad Station Beautification Project”. While the station is currently not an operation railroad, it was originally built in 1882 and had not been repainted or repaired since 1976. The train station was an eyesore in town for many years. After receiving approval from the New York, Susquehana and Western Railway Corporation and the Callicoon Business Association, our carpentry students transformed the station into a point of interest for the town of Callicoon. The response from local community members was extremely positive and the local newspaper wrote a full page story (complete with before and after pictures) on the wonderful job the DVJCC students did.
