Marc Foster, Executive Director, KAFM Radio (www.kafmradio.org), the only local community radio station in the Grand Valley, invited James Smith, Collbran Job Corps student; Bobbi Benesch, Work Based Learning Coordinator; and Evonne Stites, Reading Instructor, Grand Mesa High School, Collbran Job Corps; on the station recently.
Smith, “discovered as a great radio voice” by Darla Beasley at Collbran Job Corps’ Community Relations Council breakfast, enjoyed the opportunity to give a student’s perspective about the program.
Mrs. Benesch talked about the center’s Job Shadow Day success, explaining how employers and students gain valuable experience. She also told listeners how Job Corps’ work-based learning program operates.
Mrs. Stites and Foster gave listeners an overview of Collbran Job Corps. Foster has a special interest in Job Corps because his son is a graduate of Collbran Job Corps.
