Collbran Job Corps Graduation

Collbran Job Corps holds ten formal graduations a year.  This is a formal ceremony that opens with welcoming remarks by our center director, Gove Aker.  It is followed by presentations by our drum and flag teams.  Graduates enter to standing applause and when seating at the stage, the color guard presents the American flag and a student sings the “Star-Spangled Banner.”

Our guest speaker was Mr. Cassius Cash, the Superintendent of the Great Smokey Mountain National Park.  His daughter, Cierra,  was one of the graduates.   Superintendent Cash spoke about his career in government service and his rise to become a superintendent of this large and busy national park.

Our second guest speaker was Ivory Bunting, a Collbran Job Corps graduate whose daughter Geeya, was also graduating.  Ivory went on to develop a transportation business in Wyoming.

The Daily Sentinel  was on center to do an article about Ivory and his daughter.  This was a follow-up article because Ivory was featured in the Sentinel when he was a student.  Lots of pictures of the graduation and the Bunting family.  This feature article will be on the front page on the Sunday edition, November 1, 2015.
