The Collbran Job Corps center hosted a Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food event.  Through the Collbran Job Corps Community Relations Council, the center has had wonderful programs that highlight agriculture, animal husbandry, ranching and associated businesses.  This particular program highlighted new areas of growth such as lavender and industrial hemp.  The Palisade Insectary gave presentations on local insects-helpful and harmful.

Past programs have included milking cows and goats, making ice cream, sheep shearing, weaving, leather craft, fishing, horse-shoeing-you name it! This program really took off when the Department of Agriculture issued its Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food directive.  Many of our students have never been near livestock or understood what it takes to feed all of us.  This is a very enjoyable activity for staff, students and the community.
